Jellal gives Erza her last name, "Scarlet."

Jellal and Erza have been friends for a long time. They first met in theTower of Heaven, back when it was being constructed. During this time, Jellal gave Erza her last name, which is something she's held dear to her since.[196] Jellal cared deeply for her, to the point of changing places with her when she was about to admit to a crime that she didn't commit.[197]However, when Erza went to save him from the guards who captured him, he, having been brainwashed already, attacked her and exiled her from the Tower of Heaven, making everyone think she betrayed them.[198][199]
Eight years later, Jellal tries to sacrifice her to "revive" Zeref and claimed that he loved her once as he forcefully pushed her towards the Lacrima crystal that he planned to kill her in. However, he was stopped by Natsu.[200][201] After his defeat, Erza hears his voice saying she had become strong, and a slight smile could be seen on her face.[202] Though later, Erza told Lucy that what she thought that possibly Jellal was responsible for stopping the tower from destroying both her and Natsu since at that moment Natsu had defeated him; he was freed from the spirit of Zeref and returned to his old, kind self and that he fused with Etherion in Erza's place and guided the Magic up to the sky.[203] Later, during the conflict with Oración Seis, he was revived by Wendy,[204] and the only thing he can remember is Erza's name.[205] Upon hearing all the bad things he did and the pain he caused Erza, Jellal chose to cast a self-destruct spell on his body to rid Erza from all the pain and sadness he’s caused her.[206] However, Erza managed to convince him to live to atone for his sins and he chooses to fight together with her. After defeating Nirvana, Jellal and Erza talk in private and Jellal confesses his fears of the darkness inside him to resurface, but Erza says that even though that happens she will be there for him.[207]

Jellal-and-Erza
Jellal and Erza, after reuniting after seven years, share an intimate moment
During her fight with Azuma, she would hear Jellal's voice telling her to not give up. This helped give her the strength to stand up and eventually defeat Azuma.[208]

When Erza and Jellal meet in X791, after the disappearance of Tenrou Island and the Tenrou Team, they talk about Jellal regaining his memories and different things he did in his possessed days,[209] and eventually, while thinking about all the moments they had over the years, they kiss. However, Jellal pushes her away because, though he admitted he’s already fallen in love with her and, while Erza reciprocates these feelings, he still believes that he should punish himself for his past actions, and doesn't believe he deserves to be with someone who "walks in the light". Erza, however, is happy that things worked out that way nonetheless.[210] After the second day of the Grand Magic Games, after Jellal spoke privately with Erza and the two smiled at each other and left, Jellal expressed his happiness how he and Erza were finally able to have a normal conversation and silently thanked her.[211]Natsu Dragneel

Natsu shows his anger towards Jellal

At first, Natsu Dragneel seemed to hold great hatred towards Jellal Fernandes for trying to use Erza Scarlet as a sacrifice for the Tower of Heaven and for his obsession to resurrect the Black Wizard, Zeref.[212]Natsu also disapproved the way Jellal treated his comrades like trash, as seen when Jellal badmouthed Simon's death, calling it foolish and useless, and Natsu showed his anger towards Jellal with power and emotions.[213][214]

Natsu accepts Jellal's help

During the time Jellal was in a death-like state because ofEtherion,[215] Natsu continued holding his grudge towards the formerWizard Saint, which is something rare for him; following Jellal's awakening, Natsu was shown impulsively attacking him on sight.[216]When Jellal tried to aid Natsu in his fight against Brain, Natsu initially refused to utilize any help from Jellal and instead attacked him,[217] but once Jellal defended him from Zero's attack in a similar manner Simon did, he soon stretched out his hand and accepted Jellal's help.[218]
When Jellal was about to be taken under arrest,[219] Natsu was the first one who spoke out against it, as well as the first who tried to force his way through the Magic Council's soldiers, calling Jellal an ally of his group, and stating that they were taking him back with them.[220]

Wendysadness
Wendy cries upon hearing that Jellal will be arrested

Due to Jellal and Mystogan sharing the same face, upon first seeing Jellal, Wendy confuses the two and believes that Jellal is the person who saved her life when she was a child.[221] After reviving Jellal to repay the debt she believes she owes him, she is saddened to find out that Jellal has lost his memories, as she thinks he has forgotten about her after all the years that have passed.[222] After Jellal regains some of his memories but is still unable to remember her, Wendy expresses her sadness. However, though Jellal didn't know he never met her, he has a strong amount of faith in her, such as giving her confidence to destroy the sixth Lacrima and stated she did have the strength to destroy it and his kind encouragement would give her the strength to destroy the Lacrima. He was very determined to protect her guild and destroy Nirvana, stating that’s all that mattered to him at the time. When he’s arrested, he deeply apologized to Wendy about being unable to remember her but was happy that he may have saved her life.[223] She also fiercely defends Jellal when the Magic Council orders his arrest, trying to make them allow Jellal his freedom for helping the Light Team defeatOración Seis.[224]
When Jellal and Wendy meet once again after her seven years in stasis on Tenrou Island, Wendy has already learned that Jellal and the person she thought he was are separate people, and when Jellal tells her as such, she exclaims that she has figured everything out. Though now realizing that Jellal was not the one she is in-debt to, Wendy still was very happy to see Jellal out of prison and having found a meaning in his life and the two are still good friends.[225] Jellal is also somewhat protective towards Wendy, such as during her fight with Chelia, he noted she was in danger and wondered if he should interfere but was relieved she kept fighting and tied in the end.[226]

Makarov Dreyar
Main article: Makarov Dreyar
Makarov is the guild master of Fairy Tail and the one who allowed Jellal to participate on behalf of his Edolas counterpart Mystogan, something that made Jellal greatly honored to fight on behalf of Fairy Tail.[227] When he told Makarov the situation about the dark magic felt every year and Makarov allowed him to fight despite most of the guild not agreeing with the idea, showing he has a strong amount of trust in Jellal and even boasted to Mavis about how strong he is.[228]

Ultear is a member of Crime Sorcière and the person who possessed him when he was little to keep Grimore Heart off of the Magic Council’s eye’s, and is the cause of him having ruined so many people’s lives as a result. This darkness that she possessed him with made him almost completely insane.[229][230][231] However, after she discovered the truth about her mother and how she always loved her, Ultear took it upon herself to liberate Jellal from prison to make amends for manipulating him. She was even willing to tell Erza about everything she did to him and was willing to take all the blame for his sake. Jellal seems to have forgiven Ultear as a result, stating that they both were possessed by the darkness at the time. Ultear is also supported for Jellal to respond to Erza’s feelings and to stop punishing himself.[232] However, she’s not above bossing him around or even costing him the match against Jura to keep his identity safe.

Meredy
Main article: Meredy
Meredy is a member of Crime Sorcière and helped Ultear break Jellal out of prison (though Meredy stated Ultear did most of the work). She’s quite friendly with Jellal and, like Ultear, encourages him to respond to Erza’s feelings and even teased him about his poor skills at lying.[233] During his fight with Jura, when Jellal was about to reveal his identity, Ultear used Meredy’s sense link to force him to lose despite Meredy not wanting to interfere with his fight

Millianna creep
Millianna showing her hatred for Jellal

Millianna was part of Jellal's group when she was enslaved in the Tower of Heaven. The small group of children started a revolution and the slaves were able to defeat the guards. However, Jellal was possessed by Ultear Milkovich and managed to manipulate Millianna and the others to work for him and complete the tower in order to revive Zeref.[234] After learning the truth and after successfully escaping the tower, Millianna, along with Wally and Shô, decided to travel the world.[235] During their travels, the group somehow learned that Jellal had survived the destruction of the tower, prompting Millianna to join Mermaid Heel in order to find him and avenge Simon whom he had killed.[236] In fact, just seeing him again after seven years she showed great anger and was going to attack him immediately had Kagura not stopped her.[237

Kagura's Archenemy: Sword meant for killing Jellal

Kagura holds a deep hatred towards Jellal due to him having killed her brother Simon. She holds a desire to kill him with her sword Archenemy and only will unsheath it when she will kill him.[238] When Kagura just saw Jellal after so many years it caused her to become physically sick and giving a very angry look at seeing him again.[239] Her desire to kill Jellal is to the point of obsession as she showed immense rage towards Erza for defending him and even mentioning his name caused her to brutally attack Erza in response.

Magic Council

Yajima
Main article: Yajima
Jellal, while still as Seigrain, was a member of the Magic Council and worked together with Yajima. Even when he was possessed, Jellal held genuine respect for Yajima, as he referred him politely as "Yajima-san" as most of the council did. When Jellal managed to convince everyone except Yajima to agree to fire Etherion, Yajima expects the former to take responsibility for the consequences that would be caused by the firing of Etherion, and warns Siegrain that the people's lost lives will be upon his hands.[240] However, after Jellal fooled him and everyone else, Yajima was angry.
Seven years later, just as Jellal was surrounded by Lahar and Doranbolt with the Rune Knights with them and Jellal's cover was blown, Yajima stepped in and protected him by telling everyone that he is Mystogan, his Edolas counterpart. While this protected Jellal, he would telepathically thank Yajima for protecting him, stating he's indebted to him, while Yajima would sternly tell Jellal he would only do this once and said to leave before he causes Makarov trouble

Lahar tells Jellal that he has no hope

Lahar is a member of the newly reformed Magic Council and, due to Jellal having destroyed the original Magic Council, holds a deep hatred towards him. He showed Jellal no mercy at all even when he returned to being good and was the reason Nirvana and Oración Seis were defeated as a result.[242] Even when Jellal was being taken away he coldly told him he will never see another human again and will be given the death penalty most likely. However, Lahar did at least allow Jellal to say his goodbyes to his comrades before being taken away.[243]
Even after seven years, Lahar's hatred towards the fugitive Jellal remains the same even after Jellal destroying several Dark Guilds over the last several years. When he saw him again when his identity as Mystogan was blown, Lahar was shocked but before he could do anything, Yajima stepped in and defended Jellal and lied about who he really is. While Lahar appologized to "Mystogan", in truth, Lahar whispers to Doranbolt that he knows Yajima was lying, and that he won't allow the criminal Jellal to get away.[244]

Doranbolt
Main article: Doranbolt
Doranbolt is a member of the Magic Council and Head of a Division of the Rune Knights, a close friend of Lahar and, like Lahar, is an enemy of Jellal. When Jellal was arriving at the tournament to check on the mysterious dark magic he bumped into Doranbolt and the latter was shocked seeing "Mystogan" and followed him knowing that Mystogan was not supposed to be in Fairy Tail anymore.[245] After Wendy's fight ended in a draw, Jellal tried to get away to find the evil magic only for Doranbolt to stop him and demand to know who he is knowing he's not Mystogan.[246] When he saw his face as Jellal, he was shocked and before they can arrest him, Yajima arrives and defends Jellal calling him Mystogan. However, while Doranbolt believed Yajima, Lahar whispered to him that he's the real Jellal, shocking Doranbolt.

Tower of Heaven's Slaves

Shô
Main article: Shô
Jellal and Shô have known each other since they were children as they were both enslaved in the Tower of Heaven and both were part of a small group of children lead by Jellal and the two developed a close relationship during their time together. When Jellal was possessed and, making everyone believe Erza betrayed them by blowing up the ships, Shô stayed with Jellal to help finish the tower. He was even willing to explain Jellal's plan to Erza and everyone believing in Jellal due to him thinking Jellal is their savior. However, once he learned the truth from Erza and Simon, Shô was broken over having been betrayed and allied with Erza to defeat Jellal.[247] As a result, Jellal's friendship with Shô ended and, like Millianna, holds a deep hatred towards him. Jellal however, freed from his control, is genually sorry and guilty towards what he did to Shô and the others.

Wally Buchanan

When Jellal was possessed and, making everyone believe Erza betrayed them by blowing up the ships, Wally stayed with Jellal to help finish the tower. However, once Wally discovered the truth, he became disheartened and confused realizing Jellal had betrayed him. Like Shô and Millianna, Wally's friendship ended with Jellal due to his betrayal. Jellal however, freed from his control, is genually sorry and guilty towards what he did to Wally and the others.

When Jellal was possessed and, making everyone believe Erza betrayed them by blowing up the ships, Simon stayed with Jellal to help finish the tower. However, unlike the others, Simon knew all along that Jellal was lying and knew Erza didn't betray them and was waiting for the right time to take him down.[248] When Jellal tried to kill Erza and Natsu, Simon stepped in and protected them and died as a result prompting Jellal starts badmouthing Simon's death, calling it foolish and useless, which made Natsu enraged and punch him angrily and eat the Lacrima to defeat Jellal.

Jellalreaction
Jellal's reaction after hearing he killed Simon

When Jellal was revived by Wendy and, having amnesia, unable to remember what he did Erza explained to him all the bad things he did and how he killed Simon, causing Jellal to break into tears disgusted after realizing what he did and even called himself a monster for what he did to Simon.[249][250] He even tried to kill himself with a self destruction spell to atone for what he did to Simon till Erza stopped him and convinced him to live to atone. After he regained his memories, Jellal has shown to still guilty over killing own friend and was even fully prepared to let Erza kill him to avenge Simon, however, Erza claims Simon would not want that.[251] Simon's death also caused Jellal's old friendships with Millianna, Wally and Shô to end and hold a hatred towards him and Kagura to kill him to avenge her brother.

Brain
Main articles: Brain
Brain was once a mentor to Jellal while Jellal was still possessed and young. Brain would actually be amazed by Jellal's potential at such a young age such as being able to master the self-destruction Magic that he taught to Jellal.[252] When Jellal needed to be revived, Brain had Wendy revive him to know the location of Nirvana. However, he was attacked by Jellal due to the latter being amnesiac. When Jellal tried to destroy Nirvana, Brain mocks Jellal for trying to destroy it with the spell he taught him and even laughs at him after realizing Jellal doesn't remember anything.[253] Once Brain turned into Zero, Jellal arrived at the number one Lacrima to help Natsu defeat him by protecting him from his attack and giving Natsu the strength to enter his Dragon Force mode to defeat him and destroy the Lacrima.[254]

Magic and Abilities of Jellal Fernandes

Magic and Abilities of Jellal Fernandes

Heavenly Body Magic(天体魔法 Tentai Mahō): It is a powerful Magic based around astronomical objects, such as meteors, stars and black holes. The user generates and manipulates the energy of stars from his body and uses it against their enemy. Jellal has shown tremendous mastery over this form of Magic.[145]
Enhanced Meteor
Jellal's speed with Meteor active
  • Meteor (流星 Ryūsei): Jellal's body is surrounded by Magic, allowing him to move through the air at incredible speeds. Even if someone could detect his trajectory, it is nearly impossible to catch him. With his speed, Jellal assaults his opponents with quick but powerful melee attacks. Jellal wears a special suit under his robes to better utilize this type of Magic.[146] During Jellal's battle with Jura Neekis, the speed granted him by Meteor was shown to be particularly amazing by evenJet, a Mage specializing in speed-enhancing Magic.[147]
Enhanced Grand Chariot
Jellal's Grand Chariot
  • Grand Chariot (七星剣 Shichiseiken): While in the air, Jellal places both arms on top of each other with the top hand having only the index and middle fingers spread out. Seven magic seals are then summoned in front of him and connect together to make what looks like a constellation. Each magic seal then releases a powerful light blast down on the opponent, forming the same pattern on the ground before exploding. According to Jellal, this spell's destruction capability rivals a meteor.[148]
  • Altairis (暗黒の楽園 Ankoku no Rakuen): Jellal crosses his arms above his head to begin casting the spell.[149] As he prepares to fire the spell, all nearby shadows are drawn towards him, forming a small black
  • orb which rapidly grows in size and also gains small white lights inside it, similar to the night sky. He then unleashes the orb at the target. The orb appears to be incredibly dense, and may hold a tremendous amount of gravity to crush its opponents. Its power is said to be comparable to the power of an actual meteor. This spell was used when Simon saved Erza.[150]
  • Sema
    Jellal performing Sema
    • True Heavenly Body Magic: Sema (真・天体魔法 星崩し Shin Tentai Mahō Sēma): An attack in which the user bows down and points his hands downwards, with all the fingers closed except the index and middle fingers. The user then begins to slowly move his right hand until it points upwards. The clouds above the user begin circling around forming a cyclone. The full effects of this spell is unknown.
    • Heavenly Beams: This is an unnamed spell in which Jellal releases several powerful beams from his hands towards his opponent, causing great damage.[151]
    • Heavenly Blast: An unnamed spell in which Jellal closes his fist, except for two fingers and swipes them backwards. A big sphere of Heavenly Magic appears and rushes towards the target.[152]
    • Heaven Palm: An unnamed spell in which Jellal grabs his arm with his other hand, and straightens his palm
    • A ball of Heavenly Magic appears in his palm, which then is shot at the target to push it as an invisible wall.[153]
    • Heaven Breakdown: An unnamed spell in which Jellal swipes his hand and the ground in front of him breaks, making everything on top of it fall.[154]
    • Heavenly Arrows: An unnamed spell in which Jellal swiping his hands releases several arrows of light towards his target.[155]
    • Thought Projection Recall
Siegrain, Jellal's Thought Projection, reuniting with its master
Thought Projection (思念体 Shinentai): Jellal is capable of creating aThought Projection of himself, and is very skilled with it, having been able to fool the Magic Council into believing that his projection was actually a separate being from him, and managing to grant it membership of both the Council and the Ten Wizard Saints. His projection is also able to don an attire different from his owner’s.[156]
Darkness Magic (闇の魔法 Yami no Mahō): Jellal, due to his seeming "possession" at Zeref's hands, is an expert in the use of Darkness Magic. He was shown using almost exclusively this form of Magic for all of his fight with Erza, in which he proved himself capable of creating the ghostly entities characteristic of this form of Magic, using them to both hit and immobilize the woman with great skill.[151] In addition, as a child, he could employ Darkness Magic in other, more unusual ways.
      • Dark Force: During Jellal's first use of Magic as a child, he has proven himself capable of moving a target around in any desired manner. By moving his hand in the direction he wants it to move, he blows the target away as if he were giving them a smack from a short distance. This will seemingly produce an invisible, powerful blunt attack to strike the target; an attack which, in the manga, is strong enough to kill opponents, with their blood spilling out.[157] (Unnamed)
      • Dark Grab: Jellal moves his hands towards the opponent, far away from him. This will prompt a pair of strong, dark-colored arms to appear from a nearby surface and grab the opponent, immobilizing or choking them according to the movements performed by Jellal himself, who, after grabbing the target, is seemingly capable of controlling the spell with a single hand.[158] In the anime, the spell instead takes the form of a large amount of red glyphs, which surround the opponent, swirling around them and then grabbing them. Such glyphs can also be used to lift the target in the air and bring them to Jellal.[159](Unnamed)
      • Darkness Cage: Jellal creates a sphere of Darkness Magic in his hand in the form of ghosts that revolve around the center. He then shoots it at the target, releasing several ghosts that wrap around the target, restraining its movement.[160] In the anime, Jellal instead crushes a different-looking sphere in his hand, summoning several small masses of Darkness Magic which then grow and come together to create a sphere around the target, restraining its movement and dealing pain.[161] (Unnamed)
      • Dark Vanish: A spell in which the target, instead of being struck from the outside like with Dark Force, seemingly implodes from the inside, or is in any case vanished through unknown means, leaving only the
      • clothes behind.[159] (Unnamed)
      • Dark Ray: Jellal shoots a powerful ray of darkness from his hand towards the enemy. This spell was strong enough to nearly throw Erza down from the Tower of Heaven.[162] (Unnamed)
      • Dark Mass: Jellal creates a dark sphere that expands until it transitions into multiple tentacle-like entities that are rushed towards the opponent, and upon contact, spontaneously erupts. The dark sphere appears to feature the face of Ksitigarbha within it. [163] (Unnamed)
      • Ghost Fireworks: Jellal extends his arm and releases a flurry of ghosts towards his opponents. They seem to be alive as when Erza Scarlet cut them, they spilled blood out.[164] (Unnamed)
      • FlameOfRebuke
  •  Fire Magic (火の魔法 Hi no Mahō): Despite having been shown employing it only once, Jellal has proven himself masterful in the use of fire-based spells.
    • Flame of Rebuke (咎の炎 Toga no Honō): This spell, when released, creates golden flames in Jellal's palm, which he gave to Natsu to consume in order to defeat Zero. By eating them, Natsu's Dragon Force was activated, and Natsu described the feeling of consuming the flames like "eating Etherion", implying the spell to be incredibly
    • powerful.[165][166] According to Jellal, creating these flames uses up virtually all of his Magic.[167]

    • Abyss Break (煉獄砕破 アビスブレイク Abisu Bureiku): An extremely powerful spell which employs the four main elements to attack the opponent.[168]
Bind Snake (拘束の蛇 Kōsoku no Hebi): This spell appears in the form of a snake tattoo. The snake winds its way around the target's body, tightening and restricting movement. Jellal used this on Erza to immobilize her for the sacrifice ceremony to revive Zeref.[169]
      Self-distruct Jel
      Self-Destruction Spell
Self-Destruction Spell (自律崩壊魔法陣 Jiritsu Hōkai Mahōjin): An extremely complex spell which Jellal used in an attempt to destroy Nirvana and commit suicide. Without knowledge of its cancellation code, it cannot be dispelled. However, the spell's creator and the one who taught it to Jellal, Brain, was able to dispel this Magic without any code.[170][171]
Telekinesis: Jellal has shown the ability to move objects around in the air without touching them, being capable of doing so even through his Thought Projection Siegrain, making a book he was reading float back to its place in bookcase.[172]
Telepathy (念話 Terepashī): Jellal has shown to be able to communicate telepathically with others secretly without anyone else able to hear the conversation except him and the person he's talking to.[173][174]
Magic Staves: While disguised as Mystogan, Jellal is shown to use the same Magic as his Edolas counterpart.
      Jellal's Sacred Song
      Jellal's version of Sacred Song
      • Five Layered Magic Circle: Sacred Song (五重魔法陣 御神楽,Gojūmahōjin: Mikagura): Jellal creates several Magic circles covered in runes above his opponent, which release a concentrated beam of Magical energy that damages the enemy.[175]
Keen Intellect: Jellal is a smart, cunning and resourceful individual who displayed particular skill in deception, having been capable of fooling both Erza Scarlet and the entirety of the Magic Council, even managing to become a member himself. He has shown himself capable of creating clever schemes and planning ahead, being the schemer of the plan to revive Zeref, whom he believed dead, and tricking the Council himself into unintentionally working for him.[177] Jellal's natural cleverness comes with a vast knowledge and deep understanding of the Magic world, with him being aware of powerful spells such as Unison Raid,[178] and, thanks to his time in the Council, possessing thorough information about the ancient Magic Nirvana, even knowing where it was hidden and how to unseal it.[179]
Enhanced Speed: Aside from his Magic capabilities, Jellal is fast, agile, and has quick reflexes, being shown avoiding and redirecting the slashes from Erza's large bladed weapons in melee with ease, reacting to them with his own Magic.[180] He was also shown evading the assaults from Jura Neekisstone pillars through several remarkable acrobatic leaps.[181]
Enhanced Endurance: Jellal's vast array of spells comes with the stamina to employ them in subsequent reprises, with him being resilient enough to use Flame of Rebuke,[182] a spell powerful enough to allow Natsu Dragneel to enter his Dragon Force mode,[183] replicating the effects of Etherion, the ultimate weapon of the Magic Council,[166] after attempting to cast a Self-Destruction Spell on both Nirvana and himself,[184] something which greatly weakened him.[86]
Immense Durability: Jellal is an highly resilient opponent, who has proven himself capable of undergoing large amounts of damage without collapsing: during the events of the Tower of Heaven, he could continue fighting after being slashed in the belly by Erza Scarlet[185] (despite such action having later stopped him from casting the Abyss Break spell)[186] and receiving a barrage of Fire Dragon Slayer Magic spells from Natsu Dragneel, emerging unscathed from them;[187] later on, most importantly, he was able to survive Natsu's attacks while the latter was inDragon Force mode,[188] even after being sent crashing down through his own Tower of Heaven.[189] He was also able to fuse his body with the Etherion and attain control of it, something which should have resulted in his certain death.[190] He, however, yet again survived, entering a comatose state,[68] from which he was woken by Wendy Marvell's Sky Dragon Slayer Magic.[191]
Immense Magic Power: Jellal has shown to possess a vast amount of Magic Power, enough for him to be made a member of the Ten Wizard Saints, a group containing some of the strongest Mages in Earth Land,[172] as well as a member of the Magic Council, the ruling body of the Magic world; the latter in spite of both his young age and his overbearingness towards older, fellow councilors.[192] Such feats were made more notable by the fact that the one receiving such titles wasn't actually him, but rather the persona he had created with his Thought Projection, Siegrain, which required a considerable amount of Jellal's own Magic Power to be kept active.[193]
Expert Hand to Hand Combatant: Jellal, despite favoring the use of his ranged Magic, has shown to be a capable unarmed combatant: while his speed was enhanced by his Meteor spell, Jellal went on to attack and brutally injureNatsu Dragneel several times with strong melee blows, such as punches and kicks.[194]
Expert Swordsmanship Specialist: Despite having scarcely been shown employing one, Jellal -much like his childhood friend Erza Scarlet- has proven himself able to wield a sword with impressive proficiency since his younger years: during his time as a slave in the Tower of Heaven, he was shown to be capable of reaching the cell Erza was being kept prisoner in by himself, having dispatched all of the guards there with a massive sword he had taken from one of them.[195]
